Get 3-to-1 matching with a WISH grant

The Workforce Initiative Subsidy for Homeownership (WISH) Program5 can provide a matching grant of up to $15,000 for eligible individuals and families who want to switch from renting to owning.

What can WISH do for you? Let’s say you’ve saved $500, and your parents can give you an additional $2,500. With WISH, you could get $9,000 more, raising your nest egg to $12,000 total.

HomeReady® Loan

Get lower costs and easier qualification for first-time homebuyers, with a down payment as low as 3%. Gifts, grants and sources other than your savings (including a second loan) can be used toward the downpayment.

Your relatives or roommates don’t have to be on the loan, but their rent and income may help you qualify. Co-borrowers don’t have to live with you.

Income requirements may apply, and a home buyer class is required.

FHA Loan

A Federal Housing Administration (FHA) loan is federally insured with a down payment as low as 3.5%. Gifts, grants and sources other than your savings can be used toward the down payment.

To qualify, you’ll need a credit score of at least 580. Note, the government requires private mortgage insurance (PMI) on FHA loans.
