cutting board with grocery list

Plan Ahead

When it comes to eating healthy, and on a budget, planning is key! You already know that you should go to the grocery store with a list, but how does that list get made?

Spend some time each week to plan the meals you’d like to eat – this means breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacks. Try to pick meals that include a few key ingredients, like chicken or potatoes, and then add other vegetables and herbs to make each meal unique! Use this meal plan as the basis for your shopping list, and you’ll be able to get in and out of the grocery store easily.

Once you’re home, cook several meals’ worth of food at once in a casserole dish or crock pot, and freeze a few meals for the nights you don’t want to make anything. This will mean you’ve always got healthy food on hand, and you won’t be tempted to order a pizza, or way too much Chinese food.
